Mother's Bliss/Mirabilia

Here is my first wip pic of my first Mirabilia, Mother's Bliss. I have loved this pattern since the first time I saw a picture of someone elses finished project on one of the many xstitch boards I have frequented over the years. It reminds me of my daughter and I finally broke down and bought the pattern a few months ago and I am loving every stitch of it!

literate dragon update

Here is Literate Dragon after the haed bb sal, technically it ends tomorrow but I will be working so I know that I am not going to get much more done on him so am taking a pic now. I'm loving him still and am very impressed with myself that I am keeping up with this sal as well as I am lol

literate dragon update

started yet another project lol!

I've been stitching pretty steady on Literate Dragon, after my page finish I started page 2, then got bored lol! After all the quakes yesterday (which are still happening today) I decided to start something new. I bought QS Cherished Moments by HAED in their latest sale and have been itching to start it since I printed it off, so yesterday I put the first stitches in. It's such a beautiful design, I'm stitching it for my daughter to have someday, maybe I will start a hope chest for her and this will go in it~

Good Lord, what a stressful day! Got woke up at 1:45 am to an earthquake, 15 minutes later another stronger one-4.3! and they just kept coming all night with 3 large ones all before 6 am. I have been home from work and have felt 3 more small ones in just about 30 minutes, and the local news has reported 32 total so far today...not liking this at all. I can handle the crazy weather you can usually see it coming but earthquakes are invisible, like ninjas :(  As for the bombing at the boston marathon, my heart goes out for the victims and their families. This strikes a chord close to home as April 19 is the anniversary of the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in OKC~

A page finish!

Here he is finally! Page one finished!! I'm so excited lol. This is the only stitchy update I have though, not much time for stitching right now, work has been very busy and I'm so tired when I get home most days I just don't have the energy. Things are starting to slow a bit now though so hopefully I can kick the stitchy mojo into high gear and get the second page finished before the third page comes out ;o)

might be a blizzard in these here parts tomorrow

I've been a bad blogger, lol, it's been awhile since I posted. I have been stitching I promise though I have no pics to show you. Thinking I will invest in another digital camera so I can take pics, especially since most of my projects will eventually be bigger than my scanner, ha I have started a new project, my last major stash buy for a while. It's Mother's Bliss by Mirabilia and I bought the pattern, fabric and threads from 123stitch, got my order in about 2 days after I ordered, they are the best!

There's supposed to be a blizzard hitting us here in Oklahoma tomorrow, we will see. The last time they called for blizzard weather it barely snowed lol. Either way I'm prepared, go to work if it doesn't get bad or stay home and stitch if it gets snowy and icy ! Make money one way, have extra stitchy-time the other way, ha!

just an update of a few wip's

My digital camera has officially given up the ghost so I've had to use my scanner for these pics. Which is actually a good thing as they are better pics but sadly I can't show my orts for the TUSAL, boo. lol
So without further ado here is what I been working on the past Jan/Feb~

First is my progress on haed's freebie sal Literate Dragon, I'm hoping to get the first page finished on him before the next one comes out in March~
Next is a Dimensions kit called Butterfly & Daisies I bought at hobby lobby, they were having a 30% off sale on all their needlework kits and I couldn't resist. It's been awhile since I worked from a kit and even longer since I've stitched on 14 count aida, it's taken some getting used to but I love it~
And last but not least is Paula Vaughan's Rose of Sharon. I'm stitching this one on 28 count evenweave. It's such a lovely design and I plan on starting another one in her quilt series as soon as this one is finished.

So that's what I've been up to stitchy-wise, other than that it's been work, work and more work lol. Such is the life, gotta pay for the stitchy goods somehow!!

Liebster award

I've been nominated for a Liebster award by Kat of Kat's Stitching. Thanks so much! This award is nice way for stitchers/bloggers to get to know one another and I'm honored to be chosen!

The rules are:
1. You must post 11 things about yourself
2. Answer the questions the nominator set for you.
3. Create 11 questions for the people you nominate.
4. Choose 11 new blogs & link them in your post.
5. Please leave me a comment on this post with the URL to your Liebster award so I can learn more about you!

Here are 11 things about me:
1. I just got a promotion at work to supervisor, I'm excited and nervous all at the same time.

2. I am recently divorced, getting on my feet was hard but I made it and learned alot about myself in the process.

3. I tend to be very shy until I get to know people well

4. I don't own a dress, did not realize that until I started dating again lol

5. I love to read, I am a bookworm, my books are my friends!

6. I was adopted by my aunt and uncle when I was very young, they provided the love and stability of family that every kid needs

7. I have one daughter, 2 dogs and one very obnoxious yet lovable cat lol

8. I have permanent startitis, it is a condition that afflicts many stitcher's. I have found the only antidote is to keep stitching on whatever you want whenever you want

9. I love nascar, Dale Earnhardt jr is the man!!

10. I really enjoy blogging and reading others blogs, so many talented stitchers out there

11. I hate winter, being cold is not my thing, bring on summer!

Here are 11 questions from Kat:

When and why did you start stitching?
My mother started taught me how to embroider when I was 7 yrs old, I didn't learn cross stitch until I was 19. I found a kit at walmart, bought it, and the rest as they say is history lol

Do you do other crafts or have any other hobbies?
I crochet almost as much as I stitch! mostly afghans which I give away to whomever whenever the notion takes me ha

What has been your favorite project to date?
hm, I would have to say my favorite is a piece I did from a gold collections kit when I first started stitching, called Big Cats. It took me a year to finish and I still have it

Do you belong to a stitching group or guild?
I don't know of any guilds in my area, so no to that one. I do belong to several online forums such as the haed bb etc.

What's your favorite LNS? ONS?
If I lived just a bit closer I would love to visit the Silver Lining in Tulsa OK. My favorite online store is 123stitch. I do alot of shopping at hobby lobby as well

How many hours a week do you spend stitching?
It varies from week to week, my work schedule has changed so I have wednesdays off to stitch while munchkin is in school, and every other weekend. I try to stitch some at nights after work as well.

What's one thing you would love to try, but haven't yet?
Quilting, and possibly skydiving lol (just kidding wouldn't dare jump out of a perfectly good airplane!)

What does your stitching area look like?
A mess! I usually stitch either at the kitchen table or in the recliner in the living room so it sort of travels along from place to place

What is your favorite type of project? (BAP's, bookmarks, ornaments?)
I would have to say BAP's are definitely my favorite kinds of projects, as all of them are BAP's!

What is your favorite book?/Who is your favorite auther?
Oh my, I have several that I am reading at the moment, but Jim Butcher is at the top of the list along with Terry Goodkind

What is one thing you truly love about yourself?
I guess I would say that one thing I truly love about myself is that I am a kind person, I try to find the good in everyone

My 11 questions:
1. When did you start blogging and what made you decide to start one?
2. What is your favorite thing to stitch (samplers, pincushions, baby, etc)?
3. Do you keep anything you stitch or do you give it all away?
4. Have you ever given up on a project?
6. Do you have other hobbies?
7. Do you listen to music or watch tv when you stitch?
8. Have you ever tried designing your own projects?
9. Do you have to all the threads etc. kitted up and ready to start a project?
10. If you could vacation anywhere in the world where would you go?
11. Have you ever taught anyone else to stitch?

my first finish for 2013!!

Here it is! My first finish for 2013! It's a round ripple afghan design made with hobby lobby's I Love This Yarn. I'm so excited for this finish as it is the first in a very long time. I've already got the yarn ready for my next afghan start so stay tuned!
p.s. please ignore the time stamp, my camera is stuck in 2007 and for the life of me I can't figure out how to change it ughhh...
